About High Entropy

High entropy alloys are a new field of materials in the 21st century, pioneered by Professor Jien-Wei Yeh and Professor Su-Jien Lin, founders of High Entropy Materials, Inc., and their team at National Tsing Hua University.

  • In 2016, Nature magazine conducted a special report on high-entropy alloys, confirming the invention of high-entropy alloys and the fact that Taiwan is the birthplace of high-entropy alloys.
  • In 2018, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education of Taiwan jointly promoted centers in special research areas and established the world’s first “High Entropy Materials R&D Center” at National Tsing Hua University.
  • In 2020, the high entropy team applied for the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Value Creation Program, with the goal of establishing a company to commercialize high entropy alloys and related technologies and promote them to the industry and market.
  • In 2021, High Entropy Materials, Inc. was approved for establishment and is the first high entropy alloy material overall solution provider in Taiwan.

The vision of the new startup is to be a “provider of total solutions for advanced high-entropy alloy materials” and to position itself as a one-stop operating platform to assist the industry and the market in solving the problems faced in material research and development, manufacturing and application, and to contribute to the establishment of a unique high-entropy material-related industry in Taiwan. The product is a cross-century revolutionary new high-entropy alloy material. In addition to its low-carbon, energy-saving, non-toxic and healthy nature, it has stronger properties and functions such as toughness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, temperature resistance and low cost. It can replace imported key materials, enhance industry autonomy, increase competitiveness and benefit the people.

Vision and Philosophy

We aim to become Taiwan’s leading one-stop platform for advanced high-entropy alloy (HEA) solutions—spanning R&D, manufacturing, and application. Our HEAs offer superior strength, durability, corrosion and heat resistance, and cost-efficiency. By replacing imported key materials, we enhance industrial autonomy while promoting green, circular processes with eco-friendly alternatives to toxic materials.
